Daksha curses Chandrama for his unfair behaviour
Lord Balarama; brother of Lord Krishna before Mahabharata warfare went on pilgrimage and first reached the Prabhas tirtha close to Sarasvati river, Wherein Chandra dev was freed from his curse of Rajayakshma or TB. Later he got his radiance (Prabhas) back after coming to this holy location for which it was named as 'Prabhas'. let's know about it in short.
Daksha Prajapati had many children. Out of them, he married off his twenty-seven daughters to Chandra Dev(also called Soma or Indu). Those twenty-seven consorts of Soma were named in line with the constellations. Nobody on this earth matched their beauty. Among them, Rohini was extra attractive and appealing. For which Chandrama loved her very much. He used to spend his time with Rohini and revel in being together with her continually. She became Chadra's weakness.
Consequently, the rest of the wives became furious with their
husband and went to their father's place. All of them told him that,
"Father! Chandrama always sticks around Rohini no longer with us. Therefore
we wish to stay with you while practicing austerities. " After
hearing this Daksha advised Soma that, "Soma! You should treat all of your
wives, in the same way, to keep away from committing intense sins." Then
Daksha requested his daughters to go back to their husband considering the
reality that he knew Soma could in no way disobey his order. After returning to their husband, the rest of the better halves didn't see any changes in
Soma's behaviour. He was as usual staying busy with Rohini only. Those
daughters of Daksha again went back to their father and denied staying with
their husband considering that they observed Soma disregarded the advice of his
father-in-law and did not spend time together with his other wives. After
understanding this from his daughters, Daksha warned Chandra dev by saying, "Now if you do not deal with all your wives impartially then I will
curse you!"
Chandra stayed with Rohini only and omitted Daksha's announcement. Then enraged his other halves took shelter in their father and asked him, "Chandrama doesn't live with us in any respect. He only prefers staying with Rohini. Neither does he value your advice nor wishes to have affection toward us. You save all of us so that he can come closer. "
After listening to his daughters, Daksha became extremely indignant, he created Rajayakshma which entered internal Chandrama. Consequently, he lost his glory. Chandra dev attempted lots to get the cure but failed. He even carried out many yajnas but became weak day by day. Chandrama could not assist in growing vegetation and different herbs. Furthermore, those crops and herbs lost their taste, quality, and impact hence began destroying all human beings. They became damaged too.
Deities went near Chandra Dev and told him, "How come you have ended up so weak? Why you are not illuminating like before? Inform us the reason behind this so that we will find out a solution." Chandra Dev explained to them approximately the curse of his father-in-law. All the Deities then went to Daksha and asked him to be pleased with Chandra to free him from his curse in view that all the human beings were being badly affected by the damaged crops and herbs created by way of Weak Chandrama. Then additionally they mentioned to him that it'd quickly devastate all of them too and consequently the complete world.
Daksha replied to them that, "Deities! My assertion is positive. it may only be changed after fulfilment of the specific motive for which I gave him the curse. If Chandrama honestly treats all his wives and dives into the Sarasvati tirthas then he's going to surely turn out to be healthy like earlier. Chandrama will stay weak for one half and then healthy for the other half of a month. On the west facet of the sea, wherein the Sarasvati river meets the ocean, Chandrama must go there and chant Lord Mahadev only to be relieved from his disease. "
Chandrama then went to Daksha Somasarasvati's first tirtha vicinity Prabhas on Amavasya and dived into that. After that, he acquired a cold beam of light and irradiated the entire world. Upon getting back his radiance he went to Daksha. Daksha advised his son-in-law, "Son! by no means disregard your wives and any Brahmins. keep in mind my advice always." Chandra Dev left for his place. All of the humans also stayed peacefully.
