After Bhima almost killed Duryodhana in the mace combat, Pandavas got victory in the Mahabharata war. Before they met with Blind King Dhritarashtra and Gandhari in Hastinapur, Pandavas sent Lord Krishna to Hastinapur intending to pacify the anger of Gandhari and Dhritarashtra. Lord Krishna consoled both of them. Then Pandavas reached there to seek their blessings. Dhritarashtra embraced all of the Pandavas one by one and after hugging Yudhishthira, he turned to Bhima, and with an aim to avenge the death of his sons, he tried crushing the body of Bhima via his extraordinarily sturdy arms. However that point as according to the indication of Lord Krishna, Pandavas had already placed a metal statue of Bhima as a substitute for him in front of powerful Dhritarashtra, which was then crushed by way of the blind king. Later he regretted his act and whilst grieving he hugged and wished for the welfare of all of the Pandavas. Then Pandavas alongside Lord Krishna went to meet with Gandhari. That time she thought of cursing all the Pandavas, however, was stopped via Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa. Since Vyasa used to apprehend the inner feelings of all people through his outstanding asceticism, he reached there before Gandhari could do it. He calmed down her anger and advised her not to curse the Pandavas by means of saying that, she always used to bless her son Duryodhana before the war with the announcement of, 'wherein there is religion, there's victory' Consequently now she needed to take into account that Pandavas had no doubt conquered the war at the same time as being on Dharma simplest. Then Vyasa requested her to remain to stay in her religion of being merciful and forgiving as she constantly used to be.
Gandhari then told Vyasa, "Lord! Neither do I hold hatred emotions for the Pandavas nor do I want their destruction however I mourn for losing all my sons. It is the responsibility of my and Dhritarashtra to defend Pandavas. The Kuru dynasty is ruined for the sins of Duryodhana, Shakuni, Karna and Dushasana. none of the Pandavas are liable for this. I do not find it unpleasant for the Kauravas to die at the same time as combating the war. But I did not admire the way Bhima behaved with Duryodhana after calling him for the mace combat in the presence of Lord Krishna. It makes me angry to reflect on my consideration of Bhima after observing Duryodhana's promptness greater than him in the course of the mace fight, hit him lower to his naval. How can a courageous warrior clearly as a way to shield himself go in opposition to his warfare religion as referred to by means of saintly persons all through a fight?"
Bhima at the same time as being scared of Gandhari, in a well-mannered way responded to her that, "Mother! whether or not it is justice, I did it only to save myself out of fear from Duryodhana. Please forgive me. no person can beat Duryodhana in Gada Yudha in a religious way. Consequently, I showed him rudeness. Duryodhana had earlier dishonestly triumphed over Yudhishthira during Dyutkrida and deceived us typically. He was only left within the Kauravas who could have won back the kingdom therefore I took this unfit step in opposition to him. You are properly aware of the cruel statements that have been given via him to Rajasvala Draupadi in front of absolutely everyone. It would not have been impossible for us to rule the earth without killing Duryodhana. Your son had committed an intense sin by means of displaying his left thigh to Draupadi and asking her to sit on it. We needed to have killed him at that point only but we excused him as in step with the command of Pious Yudhishthira. Duryodhana then by way of sending us to the forest and troubling us there fueled the rage of our anger. After killing him in the fight, we are relieved from the malice now and Yudhishthira got the kingdom. "

Gandhari then agreed to the sins of Duryodhana defined by using Bhima there but again asked him how could he ruthlessly drink the blood of Dushasana in the Mahabharata battle. Bhima gave explanations by way of replying to her that, "I merely touched the blood with my lip and teeth and did not drink it in reality. In the course of the Dyutkrida, I had promised in front of everyone to kill Dushasana and drink his blood. To satisfy my Kshatriya dharma I did it. " Bhima then consoled Gandhari that she should no longer search for guilts within the Pandavas now because she had never taken into consideration the same in her sons whilst they tortured the pious Pandavas.
Gandhari then mentioned that if the Pandavas were non-secular inside the war, Bhima could have left at least one in all his hundred sons alive, because of the truth that she in conjunction with her husband Dhritarashtra was getting older and they needed the assistance of one son. At the same time as referring to Bhima as Yamaraj to slay all her hundred sons, she became livid and called Yudhishthira to come near to her there. While shivering out of fear Yudhishthira stood in front of her and a sweet voice advised her that, Devi! I've killed all your sons and plenty of kings all around the earth. therefore You curse me now. I don't desire to acquire the kingdom or wealth after killing all my Sahridayas."
That time Gandhari stayed silent and breathed heavily. Yudhishthira was about to fall on her feet. At that point, Gandhari noticed the lovely toenails of Yudhishthira from inside the cloth that she had covered her eyes. (Gandhari usually covered a cloth on her eye the reason that she changed committed to her blind husband Dhritarashtra). His toenails turned out black by way of her look. Seeing this, Arjuna immediately hid in the back of Lord Krishna out of fear. Gandhari could apprehend it after which pacified her anger. She comforted them like an affectionate mother.
Next all of the Pandavas in conjunction with Draupadi met with their mother Kunti. Draupadi mourned for her sons in front of her. (Ashwatthama had slaughtered all her sons along with remnants of Panchala warriors including Dhrishtadyumna and Shikhandi in the night to avenge the death of Duryodhana). Seeing her daughter-in-law in sorrow, Kunti also grieved and went to Gandhari together with her. Pandavas also followed them. Gandhari then consoled Draupadi and Kunti with the aid of announcing, "Do not be distraught with sorrows. I also feel the ache of losing my sons. Nobody can change their destiny. Because of the truth that, Lord Krishna's peace agreement between was failed, the valuable outcomes as anticipated through Vidura became real. There is not anything left to mourn now. The courageous warriors are dead now therefore you have to now not grieve over them. I am accountable for the destruction of this dynasty." After that Vyasa granted her Divine sight to look at the dead bodies of the soldiers inside the Warfield. Gandhari mourned for the lifeless warriors and their families in front of Lord Krishna and then cursed him at the same time blaming him for the destruction.
